Gibson “Gib” Low, 78 of Estero, FL, passed away Feb. 10th 2011. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jo of 57 years. He leaves his daughter Deborah Hassett and son-in-law Michael of Columbia. Three sister-in-laws, Angela Rioux of Glastonbury, Diane Buonanducci of Vernon and Kay DiNatale of New York and a brother-in-law Danny DiNatale of Southington. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, god-children and cousins both here as well as New York. Gib moved to Florida shortly after his retiring from the Town of East Hartford Police Department, after 21 years of service – the last five years in the Narcotics Division. Gib did a three year Tour of Duty in the Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany in a Armored Division as a Tank Driver. He was an avid sportsman, playing Semi-Pro Football for the East Hartford Merchants, as well as softball for the E. H. Police. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and golfing.
Family and friends are invited for a Celebration of Gib’s Life to be held at the Callahan, Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford on Thursday May 5th from 4-7pm.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 6th at 10am in St. Paul’s Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury, followed by burial with Military & Police Honors in Hillside Cemetery, 162 Hillside St., East Hartford.
