Eugene “Gene”, better known as “Skipper,” to his siblings and grandchildren, was born on July 27, 1930, to Seigmund and Florence Dellhime in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Hartford’s Buckeley High School in 1949.
While in high school he met Pauline Quattropani. Eugene and Pauline were married in June 1951 and went on to have two sons, Kenneth, and Sigmund.
Before marrying, Eugene joined the US Navy in October 1950 and served aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa during the Korean Conflict receiving an Honorable Discharge upon completing his tour of duty in August 1954.
Eugene was predeceased by his wife, parents and siblings, Benjamin Delheim (aka Sigmund Dellhime), Issac Dellhime, Erma Mae Austin, Pauline Eckhart, and Sonja Eckhart. He is survived by his sons and their families.
Private services with military honors will be held at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown on Thursday May 23, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disable American Veterans organization.
