Elizabeth Rose Cole, 101, of East Hartford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in her home. Born in Hartford in 1922, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Matilda M. Einsteder of Windsor and the granddaughter of Elizabeth C. Einsteder, originally of Hungary. She graduated from Buckley High School in 1940. Upon graduation, she was employed by the telephone company in Hartford as a telephone operator and then by Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford as a Key Punch Operator.
She resided in East Hartford most of her life. She was actively involved in the East Hartford Senior Center where she enjoyed taking trips, being a member of the Knitting Club, and volunteering in the kitchen preparing meals. She believed in volunteering so much that every year she helped out at the Bushnell Preforming Arts Center in Hartford and with the Jimmy Fund in East Hartford, as well as donating her knitted and crocheted items to others.
Elizabeth is survived by two sisters, Dorothy A. Gazda of Hartford and Marie E. McGuire of Seal Beach, CA; three daughters, Donna J. Lambert of Ocala, FL, Charlene. E. Cole and Linda M. Pasquariello both of East Hartford; four grandchildren, Michael D. Johnson and wife Donna of South Windsor, Mark D. Johnson and wife Leslie of Mystic, Brett M. Cole and wife Paula of Plainville, and Matthew A. Pasquariello of Rocky Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Michael D. Johnson Jr. and wife Mellissa of Meriden, Kyle M. Johnson and partner Amanda L. Deschenes of Manchester, Dylan A. Johnson of South Windsor, Elliott M. Cole, Evelynn R. M. Cole and Astrid M. Cole of Plainville, Ari B. Johnson, Reece H. Johnson of Mystic, and Kayla C. Gatti of East Hartford; two great-great grandchildren Aubrey A. Johnson and Matthew T. Johnson of Manchester.
Elizabeth was predeceased by an infant son, her husband, Robert N. Cole, a grandson, Justin D. Gatti, and a great-grandson, Aiden M. Cole.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 12th at 10:00 am, at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Following the service, there will be a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, 162 Roberts Street, East Hartford, concluding with a memorial celebration at 6 Phillips Farm Road, East Hartford.
