Margaret ‘Peg’ Reidy, recently of Orchard Park, NY, and long-time resident of East Aurora, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 9, 2024.
Born October 2, 1933, to the late Thomas J. and Helen T. (nee Scanlon) Daly, she was raised in South Buffalo as part of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. She is a proud graduate of Mount Mercy Academy and then attended D’Youville College. Peg worked for New York Telephone where she met her beloved husband of 54 years, the late Donald Reidy Sr.
She is survived by six children, Karen (Darrell)Newcomb, Donald Reidy Jr, Denise Reidy, Timothy(Lisa)Reidy,Terry(Marita)Reidy and Beth Reidy; grandchildren Christopher (Hedei) Newcomb, Collin (Amanda) Newcomb, Abigail (Brett) Madden, Patrick Reidy, Julia Reidy, Donald Reidy, David Reidy, Jillian Reidy, Alexandra Reidy, and Georgia Reidy and great-grandchildren Teddy Newcomb, Joey Newcomb, Jack Newcomb, Cortland Newcomb, Mason Madden, and Cameron Madden. She enjoyed the warm embrace of her cherished Reidy and Daly extended families and the loving support of her Fox Run family of residents and staff. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her son Joseph Reidy, sisters Jean Varga and Dorothy Collins, and her brother the Reverend Father Thomas J. Daly, SSC.
Peg devoted her life to her family, friends, and home. She developed lasting friendships that spanned her lifetime, attended, and supported her extended family’s sporting and musical activities, and was very active within the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School in East Aurora, the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer support group, and volunteered to work many local elections. You could regularly find Peg ‘holding court’ each morning at Charlie’s Diner and later with her beloved breakfast group at Fox Run. She loved meeting people, building new relationships, and took an active interest in their lives.
A viewing will be held at Wood Funeral Home, 784 Main Street, East Aurora, on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 520 Oakwood Avenue, East Aurora, NY (with live stream to Fox Run for residents). Burial will take place following the funeral service at Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Vincent de Paul Society at Immaculate Conception Church.
