I had Mr. Rothrock for social studies. 1974 I remember he had a stone on his desk, The Roth Rock. And you dare not step on his rug. Nice man sorry to hear.

John you were a kind and generous man.  Your heart was always focused on helping others...and you did it in so many various ways.  You introduced me to politics and because of you I got to be part of local and national political events that few young adults get to witness.  I will be forever thankful for that.  Rest in peace knowing you made a positive difference in this world.

Mr. Rothrock was the best Social Studies teacher I had growing up. His views, intelligence and teaching helped shape my political view into one I like to think he would be proud of. He was a great teacher, and an even better person. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed!!!

John was a good friend and fellow Taurus.  We enjoyed many "Bull Bash" parties together with a wonderful group of friends in Tampa for many years.  I have wonderful memories of this kind, sweet man and all the happy times we all shared.  Bon voyage dear one ...RIP.

John was certainly a rare individual. He invested a lot of time, energy and resources in many of the students who came through Iroquois. I will always remember the fun times we had with John, in particular, post HS graduation , while in college and beyond. He was very generous and had a big heart. John, you will be missed. May God have mercy on your spirit.  Rest in peace. 

We taught with John and Glenn worked on the teachers negotiation team many years with John when he was president of the faculty association. John had many friends in the WNY area and the state because he was involved with the NYSTA for years. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace John.🙏

Sincere sympathy to John's dear friends in Buffalo and in Florida. We had lots of fun at summer concerts ! He loved food like I do! You will be missed! 


I was sorry to hear of John's death. I worked with John for many years at Iroquois. I always saw John as a person who wanted to see young people succeed. John helped a number of his students meet their goals even after they graduated. John will be missed. He is in my prayers.

We write this with great sadness over the loss of a friend and person so many respected in our community.  When our community needed a person to guide us, John stepped forward to serve his community.  Even though John fought a brave battle of cancer, he accepted the position of President of the Bay’s End Manor Homeowners Association.  John always said, he would perform the duties of the President as long as his health would permit him to do so.  Each day he took in stride, never really complaining, hoping that the treatments would allow him to get better.  So many admired how John, who offered valuable and truthful advice when needed.  The night before John was called home by our Lord, was very special.  A few of us gathered together that evening with John to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Deanna’s Birthday.  John was in good spirits that evening and it was the best we saw him in a long time.  Our hope is that John now rests in peace knowing how many people he has touched throughout his life.  He will be greatly missed by so many.

John was a very valued member of the Bays End Manor community. He often stepped up to help the community resolve owner/resident problems but he mostly he was a constant good neighbor. Peace to a good man.

John was a good friend and neighbor here at Bays End Manor.  I served with him on our Board of Directors for several years a few years ago.  He was always smiling and easy to work with.  He always wanted the best for us and for our neighborhood.  Loved his nice smile and positive attitude.  He will be missed.  Lots of love and heartfelt sympathy to all his family.


I worked with John Rothrock on the HOA Board for BEM. He was so easy going as what he wanted done. Had a very giving heart and sole. He will be missed by us here at Bays End Manor.

Hi Family and Friends,

I wanted to say how much John, (aka Mr. Rothrock as I called him in Middle School at Iroquois Central), impacted my views on politics and the world.  He was definitely one of the best social studies teachers I ever had, and a living classroom tribute to the contributions President Reagan made to the United States security by defeating the Evil Empire (ie. the Soviets) with the help of our intelligence services and using ingenuity to creatively flood their economy with fake rubles to destabilize their monetary system.  War and politics is unfortunately never a clean business, but bad political decisions to not act against enemies can also cause millions of deaths on the world stage.

I sat in Mr. Rothrock's classroom before and after his attendance of President Ronald Reagan's inauguration in 1984 and was very impressed that my teacher attended the ballroom gala and festivities with one of the greatest Presidents in American history (ie. probably because he was not as much of a globalist and more of an American nationalist with a Hollywood acting background as compared to the Presidents that followed).  

You could tell that the Presidential inauguration was probably the peak of John's career in teaching, and it was a credit to his notoriety in the political spheres of power to be recognized enough by the Washington insiders to be invited to rub elbows with the Presidential pack. 

Ironically, I met Mr. Rothrock in a Walmart in Oldsmar, FL, shortly after I moved to Safety Harbor, FL in 11/2019.

It was a pleasure speaking to John in Walmart late last year and we were supposed to get together for coffee in the New Year to reminisce and get reacquainted after 36 years of not seeing each other; but unfortunately, we never had that meeting due to his illness struggles.

I extend my thoughts and prayers to the family for comfort, so they know his experiences impacted many students in a positive way.

Florida just won’t be the same without our dear friend John. I’m certain his Buffalo area family and friends feel the same. 
I learned a lot from this man in the short three years I knew him. John was very good at putting people in each other’s paths. I have met some wonderful souls through him. 
John was never alone during his battle with cancer. There were many of us who rallied with him through the bad days and the good days. He was a fighter! 
He celebrated St Patrick’s Day and the birthday of one of his very special caregivers, DeAnna, the night before he passed. He was happy, ecstatic even, to be feeling less pain, and to be having a wee small party. 
John lived a full life with a full heart of love for every single person he encountered. I’m really and truly going to miss him, and his sweet guy grin.
