Margaret Eschner Bacon of Buffalo died Nov. 7 at Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital, following a short illness. She was 96.
Born in Buffalo she graduated from South Park High School. Following high school she attended Albright Art School on a scholarship and received an Art Education degree from SUNY Buffalo State as well as a Masters in Education and a Doctor of Education degree from University at Buffalo.
She was an art teacher at Buffalo School #78 and a professor at University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Science and School of Education. She worked as a professor of Art Education at Daemen College for 20 years and was the Chairman of the Arts Department for three years.
Mrs. Bacon was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Sigma Sigma and helped organize the Western New York section of the NYS Art Teachers Association.
She volunteered for the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts and as a Vacation Bible and Sunday School teacher.
She is predeceased by her husband Paul Arthur Bacon and is survived by a daughter Jane L. Pedersen; son Douglas R. Bacon and nine grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at Coventry Hall, Canterbury Woods, 705 Renaissances Drive, Williamsville.
