Julie Bishop Bradley, 79, of Williamsville, NY, passed away on August 15, 2022, from pancreatic cancer having only been diagnosed a few short weeks before her passing. She was cared for at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and was lovingly supported by her children, family, and many friends.
Born November 13, 1942, in Jamestown, NY to Ben and Lucy Bishop, who preceded her in death, Julie was the second of three children. She was a loyal daughter and loving sister with many friendships spanning the years. She adored her parents. Her father was an extraordinary golfer who had even played with Arnold Palmer. He passed his love for the game onto Julie who had a passion for the sport most of her adult life.
She was a devoted mother to her three children, Tracy, Chris, and Kelly. Her family expanded after reconnecting with Donald Bradley in August of 1981 at the Erie County fair. Both being parents of twins, they already knew each other from the Mothers of Twins club and immediately formed an affection towards one another. This affection formed a union joining the two families into what would be affectionately known as the “Bradley Bunch.” Upon marrying Don, Julie opened her heart to his children as well—”Deever,” Allison, and Michael. Together Julie and Don enjoyed much laughter and many memorable days spent skiing at the Sitzmarker Ski Club in Colden, NY. They embraced the company of family and friends over many years through all sorts of activities. Golfing had become a big part of their lives having been members of Brookfield Country Club, then Lockport Town and Country Club and finally landing at Transit Valley Country Club where Julie was especially beloved by both members and staff alike. Her heart was broken when Don, the love of her life, passed from Alzheimer’s in June of 2018.
If you knew Julie, you would know she had a larger-than-life personality with many talents. Her true gift was her authentic, kind and generous spirit. She was always the life of the party with an infectious smile. Her hands were never idle either. She was often serving on many community boards, preparing to entertain friends and family, or knitting for her family as well as for newborns at Millard Suburban NICU. Few could ever knit like Julie. Maybe it was her creative energy or the love she put into every stitch, but each of the countless pieces she created was a masterpiece. She masterfully knit blankets and ski sweaters for all 10 of her grandchildren and numerous loved ones.
She had a fervor for culture and travel. She never missed a local Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert and traveled extensively during her later years to spend time with family and friends.
Julie is survived by children Tracy S. (Tracy) Straw, Christopher (Jessica) Pearson, Kelly (Michael) Hanes, Donald D. (Megan) Bradley III, Michael Bradley, and Allison (Sam) Bradley-Anderson. Loving grandmother of Cassandra, Bradley, Samantha, Jessica, Christopher “CJ”, Claire, Elizabeth, Torin, Kieran, and Ashlin. Sister of Susan (Cris) Collie and Steven (Cindi) Bishop. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 4, 2022, from 1-4 pm at Dengler, Roberts, Perna Funeral Home 8630 Transit Rd. East Amherst, NY 14051. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Julie’s memory.
