Tonny Edward Upchurch

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Thomas Upchurch and Ellon Dennis; his brother: Phillip Upchurch; and his grandson: Garrett Capps.

Left to cherish Tonny’s memory are his two daughters: Karla Upchurch of Four Oaks, NC and Tonnette Sears (David) of Holly Springs, NC; his three sons: Tonny Upchurch Jr. of Broadway, NC, Rusty Upchurch (Stacie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Bobby Capps of Erwin, NC; and his sister: Rhonda Upchurch of Mamers, NC.

Tonny also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Cody Wood (Felicia) of Erwin, NC, Kristy Upchurch of Godwin, NC, Kimberly Jones of Chapel Hill, NC, Amy Rosciano (Chris) of Clayton, NC, Dustin Upchurch (Destani) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Erika Brown of Four Oaks, NC, Skylin Upchurch of Dunn, NC, Hannah Capps of Wilmington, NC, Eli Capps of Erwin, NC, and Desiree Hager of Lawton, OK; and 12 great-grandchildren: Levi and Khloe Wood, Jonathan Mills, Hunter and Caroline Parrish Summer and Krissy Fleming, Kalhi and Christopher Rosciano, Aiden Upchurch, Mason Hudson, River Upchurch, Cheyanne Upchurch, Brandy Upchurch, and Braxton Upchurch.

Tonny had many things he enjoyed, but none as much as family time. He loved doing puzzles and playing computer games, as well as birdwatching, cooking, and baking. Fishing was a favorite pastime. He was also very artistic and liked painting scenic imagery on woodwork. He took pride in coaching baseball for many years, and in his professional life, he became the owner and operator of a flooring company, as well as a landscaper for NC State University in younger years.

There will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Tonny Edward Upchurch on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 12PM-2PM at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.

Friends and family will be received at his earthly home in Erwin following services.
