Mrs. Lucas was born to the union of the late Samuel Thomas and Lonie T. Thomas on January, 29, 1927 in Harnett County.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the following members of her family: Her husbands: Wilbur Thomas and Jack Lucas; Son: "Bit" Lucas; Sisters: Estelle Tyler, Virginia Lipscomb, Frances Stewart, Louise Norris, Eloise Norris and Mary Rose Porter; Brothers: LeeRoy Suggs and Charlie Suggs.
Thelma loved her family dearly and they adored her. She loved sitting on the deck at the beach watching the dolphins. She also loved the mountains where she fished and camped with her family.
Left behind to cherish her memory are the following members of her family: Daughter: Cathy Ammons of Dunn; Son: Kenny Lucas and wife Sharon of Crumpler; Stepson: Jimmy Lucas and wife Faye of Wade; Grandsons: Brandon Lucas of Bristol, Virginia and Bradley Lucas of Crumpler; Step Grandson: Stephen Lucas of Eastover; Granddaughters: Lori Grantham and husband Timmy of Dunn, Kim Ammons of Dunn; Step Granddaughter: Tammy Stoeckley of Fuquay; Great Grandchildren: Jacob Morrison of Dunn, Tristin Grantham of Sanford and Haley Grantham of Dunn; Great-Great Granddaughter: Haven Andrews of Dunn; Sister: Audrey Barefoot and husband Shelton of Dunn.

A funeral service to commemorate the life of Mrs. Thelma Thomas Lucas will be conducted on Tuesday, July 03, 2018, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerome Edwards and Phil Denton officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Erwin Memorial Park in Erwin with: Brandon Lucas, Bradley Lucas, Jacob Morrison, Tristin Grantham, Timmy Grantham and Anthony Weaver serving as Pallbearers.
