Robert Paul O' Brien

He was born March 17, 1952 in Fayetteville, North Carolina the son of the late Paul O’Brien and Lucy Herring Hazeltine. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, William David Herring and Patrick Michael O’Brien.

Bob worked for the Department of Transportation for numerous years as a Crew Leader. He was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church. His three grandchildren were the apple of his eye, he loved to play with them and was devoted to his family. Bob was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed hunting, liked spending time gardening, driving his John Deere Tractors and his red truck.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Virginia O’Brien of the home; daughter, Dana Boykin and husband Steven; son, Stacy Tart and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Joshua Boykin, Rayleigh Tart and Brody Tart; sister, Patricia Michelle Sherman and husband Bob Sherman; Dana’s Mother, Linda Carter; sister-in-law, Marie Gregory; brother-in-law, Jerry Gregory; canine companion, Sassy; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Monday, October 7, 2019 at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn with Rev. Don Flemming officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends are welcome to visit the home of Mr. O’Brien for calling hours.
