Marie Denning Butler

Marie was born February 2, 1944 in Harnett County the daughter of the late Lonnie E. Denning and Robin Louise Moore Denning and is preceded in death by her first husband, William Thurman Jackson, Sr. and second husband, Carl Franklin Butler, Sr. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie Denning, Jr. and Carl Randall Denning.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her family was very important to her. She loved people and loved helping people.

Marie was always busy doing something, it might be for her church, the town of Linden, or her family. She retired from the Harnett County Farm Service Agency, in the USDA Branch as a Farm Service Clerk. She was also a former mayor of the town of Linden, NC.

She was a member of Colliers Chapel Church where she was very active member in all aspects of the church, including the Secretary of the Church for over 30 years.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Colliers Chapel Church with Rev. Johnny Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville.

She is survived by: her son: William Thurman “Jack” Jackson, Jr. and (wife) Tammy of Linden, NC.

Step-Daughter: Stephanie B. Carter & (husband) Randall of Garland, NC.

Sister: Audrey D. Gainey of Linden, NC.

Grandchildren: Michael Downey & Jennifer, Kaylee Jackson Hair & Clint and Lee Mathis. 5 Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 6:00 pm – 8:0 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
