Rev. Hugh Jeffrey Stewart, age 73 of Ernie Rd, Godwin died Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home.
Rev. Stewart was born on December 19, 1947 in Harnett County the son of the late Reginald Jeffrey Stewart and Calypso Hobbs Stewart and is preceded in death by brothers, R.J. Stewart, Rev. James Stewart and Howard Stewart and a sister-in-law, Jean Hair Stewart and his father-in-law, Floyd Daniel Faircloth.
Rev. Stewart retired with the N.C. Department of Agriculture as a supervisor in the meat and poultry division. He became a Church of God of Prophecy Minister in 1984 and pastored Falcon Church of God of Prophecy, Clement Church of God of Prophecy and was currently the pastor at Bonnetsville Church of God of Prophecy.
Rev. Stewart loved his family and his church family, He was a man of God serving people in the ministry for over 36 years. He loved to cook and fellowship, getting people together to eat was something he enjoyed as well as doing the cooking. He loved to fish and was a heavy gardener.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Clement Church of God of Prophecy, 3990 Maxwell Rd., Autryville with Rev. William Tew officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
He is survived by: His wife of 54 Years: Margaret Faircloth Stewart of the home.
Sons: Jeff Stewart & (wife) Donna of Benson, NC and Dwight Stewart & (wife) Kristi of Four Oaks, NC.
Grandchildren: Parker Stewart, Allie Stewart and Zachary Stewart
Brothers: Frankie Stewart & (wife) Brenda of Falcon, NC; Tommy Stewart & (wife) Jan of Godwin, NC; Rev. Anthony Stewart & (wife) Kim of Selma, NC and Charlie Stewart & (wife) Penny of Godwin, NC.
Sisters-in-Law: Carolyn Stewart of Stedman, NC; Iris Stewart and Mary Anna Stewart
both of Godwin, NC and many Nieces and Nephews
Mother-in-Law: Evelyn Daniels Faircloth of Erwin, NC.
The Family will receive friends Saturday Evening, September 18, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
