Edith Mae Parker, 97, went to be with her lord and savior on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. She was born on April 9, 1926 to the late Lonnie Franklin Anderson and Essie Mae Thomas in Cumberland County North Carolina.
Her beloved husband Tommy Parker preceded her in death, her son Franklin D. Parker Sr., her granddaughter Lisa Parker; her grandson Wesley Parker, her great-granddaughter Christina Whetsell, her sisters Edna Brown and Helen Lambert and her brothers Calvin Anderson, Horace L. Anderson, and Jerry G. Anderson.
Edith had many accomplishments, and in her 97 years she did all she could to help those around her. Her many services to the community included working at the Carolina Soda Shop on Hay Street, working at the Colonial Restaurant in downtown Fayetteville, and working in the Fayetteville Airport Canteen.
She also supported veterans by working as a cafeteria clerk for the VA hospital for 25 years before she retired; and she worked with children as a nanny at Breezewood Daycare.
Edith was also a charter member of Breezewood Church since 1955; she loved the Lord, was devoted to serving Him, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was beloved and cherished by her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Sandra Gayle Parker, of Lumber Bridge, NC, and Marie Suggs of Hope Mills, NC, her sons Tommy V. Parker Jr. (Kay) of Fayetteville, NC, Larry E. Parker (Judy) of Fayetteville, NC, Dennis C. Parker (Kathy) of Summerville, SC, and Ronald W. Parker of Lumber Bridge, NC.
Edith also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, and her brother Russell Anderson (Faye) of Hope Mills, NC.
The visitation for Edith will be Monday, September 18, 2023 from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. at Breezewood Church, 3337 Legion Rd, Hope Mills, NC 28348, with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Breezewood Church with Rev. Steve Gilmer officiating.
The services for Edith Mae Parker will conclude with a burial at Big Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hope Mills, NC.
