Cathy Bowman Marshall

Cathy Elaine Bowman Marshall, 64, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on February 28, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was the widow of Vince Marshall but now they’re reunited in Heaven.

Cathy was born in Sampson County, North Carolina. She was the fourth child of seven born to Leroy Raymond Bowman and Margaret Lee Barefoot.

During her high school years, Cathy was a very talented cheerleader. After school Cathy’s family moved to a farm in Pender County where they harvested tobacco and corn.

She was the mother to 4 beautiful children and 17 grandchildren.

Cathy’s family relocated to Charlotte, NC where she began working as a seamstress for Curtain Bed & Bath. In her next venture, Cathy became an entrepreneur and started Cathy’s Cleaning Service. A company that specialized in new construction cleaning for over 10 years in which, if you were a relative, you were employed. Cathy was also a devoted Christian an attended New Beginnings Worship Center of Dunn, NC. After her health began to decline, Cathy became well known as the number one cheerleader on the sidelines for all the sports that her grandkids participated in. Some of her proudest moments were watching her grandkids compete in wrestling tournaments. Although Cathy became unable to work a 9-5, she enjoyed delivering food through Uber Eats and DoorDash with her son Michael, daughter Amy, granddaughter Britany, and Sisters Gloria & Brenda. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest attributes. Her smile could light up a room and her laughter could fill the halls. She will forever be known for her larger than life personality.

Preceded in death by her late husband’s Vince Edward Marshall & Allen Readon Jr, parents Leroy Raymond Bowman & Margaret Lee Barefoot, sister Vickie James, step-son Antonio Daniels, brother-in-law Steve Staley, nieces Hailey Bowman & Kellie Haithcock, and great niece T’yanna Cole.

She is survived by her children Amy Bowman (Clayton), Michael Aponte, Joshua Aponte (Rosa), Timothy Aponte (Pamela), her step-children Vince Marshall Jr & Tyiesha Marshall. Along with her siblings Robert Bowman (Cindy), Ann Sluik (John), Brenda Staley, Sandra Meeks (Gary), and Gloria Bowman. Cathy is also survived by her 17 grandchildren: Amelia, Destinee, Britany, Kevin, Cynthia, Alex, Corey, Stefhany, Shannon, Harlie, Elaina, Jersey, Karadey, Joanna, Cameron, Chase, & Jaden.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at New Beginnings Worship Center 3224 Ashe Avenue, Dunn, North Carolina, 28334.

Burial will follow at Harnett Devotional Gardens 5665 Fairground Rd, Dunn, North Carolina 28334.
