Carolyn Johnson Stone

Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Stone, age 74 of Dunn passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at SECU Hospice House of UNC in Pittsboro, NC.

Carolyn was born September 29, 1948 in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Casper Johnson and Jessie Hodges Johnson. Carolyn is preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Stone. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Johnson Torbert, Jo Anne Johnson Hodges and Jenny Lynch Carver and her brothers, William David Johnson and Donald Bruce Johnson.

Carolyn was a 1966 graduate of Dunn High School. Carolyn worked 40 plus years for Pope Law Group in Dunn as a Paralegal. She was an active member of Grove Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She made sure the church bulletins were prepared every week for the service and other special occasions. She was a member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 59. She was also on the board of Friends Fighting Cancer - Harnett.

Carolyn loved her community. She was always lending a hand to many charities, and was known as the “Voluntold Person.” She didn’t mind getting out and selling tickets or asking for donations and you always gave willingly when Carolyn approached you. She was great wife, mom, grandma, sister, and aunt. Family came first. Her grandchildren called her Grandma and "Mama C" and she was known by all her nieces and nephews as “CC”.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Williford / Lees Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by: Her Husband of 53 years: Ray Stone of the home.

Son: Kurt Stone and (wife) Kimber of Greenville, NC.

Daughter: Renee VanderVorst & (husband) Jeffrey of Dallas Texas

Grandchildren: Alli Vandervorst, Kaleb Stone, Austin Vandervorst, Kourtney Stone, Kallie Rae Stone and Kassie Jo Stone.

Sister: Connie Johnson Webb & (husband) Skip of Dunn, NC.

Brothers: Marvin Earl Johnson & (wife) Kay of Dunn, NC.

Brent Johnson & (wife) Janet of Dunn, NC.

Sisters-in-Law: Jo Johnson of Dunn, NC and Charlene Johnson Palatka, Fl.

Brother-in-Law: Dale Stone & (wife) Marie of Durham, NC.

Many Nieces and Nephews and many Great Nieces and Nephews.

The Family will receive friends Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
