Irene Florence DeCoste

Loving and proud mother of Debra (Paul McHarg), Joseph (Larissa Fedak), David (Marilyn McHarg), and Paul (Pam Simpson). Much beloved Gramma of Douglas (Amber), Christopher (Heidi Hutchinson), Ashley (Giri Singh), and Mitchell (Brandy Allen). Great-grandmother to Koral, Samora and Reggie DeCoste, as well as family members Ann LeBlanc and Arnie Delorey. Predeceased by her parents Flora MacIntyre and Joseph MacInnis, and by her sisters and brothers: Winnifred, Josephine, George B. (Bernie), and Kenneth.

Irene was a graduate of the St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing class of 1956 and worked at St Joseph’s Hospital for 38 years including the personnel health office for the most part. Irene’s quick wit and humour gave her family and friends much laughter and joy. She was always ready to help others and did so with a strong humanitarian spirit. Irene was a kind and caring soul. Her generosity and compassion touched the hearts of all those she knew.

The family will receive friends at Marlatt Funeral Home, 195 King St W., Dundas (905-627-7452) on Thursday, October 10th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church, 58 Sydenham Rd., Dundas on Friday October 11th at 11 am with interment to follow at St Augustine’s Cemetery, Dundas.
