Teresa Gamino Ramirez of Wilmer, TX, passed away on April 22, 2019 and was surrounded by family and friends. She was born on October 15, 1946 in Nocupetaro, Michoacan, Mexico to Gonzalo Gamino and Florinda Ortega (both deceased). She often talked about her childhood of being raised on the family farm. Teresa married Leonel Ramirez on January 18, 1963 and immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1970s with their five oldest children. They lived in Ennis, TX and eventually made a home with their 10 children in Wilmer, TX.
Teresa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a source of strength and continuous support to her family and community. She was a devout Catholic and liked spending time with her women’s prayer group, volunteering at church events, gardening, and cooking. Most of all, Teresa enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home. She always loved hearing about the sports and other activities that her children and grandchildren were up to, taking pictures with everyone, telling jokes, giving advice, and even sending everybody home with plenty of food.
In addition to her parents, Teresa is preceded in death by her daughter Monica Ramirez, and brothers Reynaldo Gamino and Humberto Gamino. She is survived by her husband Leonel Ramirez; daughters Inocente “Carmen” Ramirez, Elberta Ramirez, Olivia Figueroa, Josefina Medina and Teresa Ramirez; and sons Juan Ramirez, Paulino Ramirez, Jose Ramirez and Leonel Ramirez. Teresa is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family acknowledges the constant prayers and thoughts of friends and family during this time. Visitation will take place at David Clayton and Sons Funeral Home at 200 W Center St, Duncanville, TX 75116 on April 25th a rosary service at 5-6pm followed by the viewing from 6-9pm. A funeral Mass will be held on April 26th at 10 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 1537 Rogers Avenue, Lancaster, TX 75134. A graveside service will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery at 1500 S Westmoreland Rd, DeSoto, TX 75115. A luncheon will be held at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church after the burial to celebrate Teresa’s life.
