Jack Melvin Weaver, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Duncanville, Texas on July 11th, 2020 with his wife and son by his side. Jack was born on September 23, 1930 in Manorville, Pennsylvania to Spurgeon Weaver and Nora (Weister) Weaver. He married Barbara Jean Smoyer on March 17, 1951 in a chapel at Ft. Myer, Virginia where he proudly served in the US Army as a military policeman and Honor guard. This year they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Jack was a factory worker most of his career, manufacturing and shipping automotive bumpers and performing equipment maintenance for North American Rockwell Corp. (Bumper Division) in Newton Falls, Ohio.
Jack loved serving the Lord and helping others in many ways. He was an usher and greeter for several years at First Assembly of God Church in Warren, OH. He later attended Grace Fellowship Church in Grand Prairie, TX. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. And, he enjoyed attending family gatherings at the ol’ farmhouse in Falls Creek, PA. where he grew up. Those gatherings always included an outdoor “shootin’ match” which everyone enjoyed. His hobbies included woodworking, wood carving, and working jigsaw puzzles.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Jack, Jr. and wife Joyce, his sister Marge and husband Rev. Norm Patton, his sister June and husband Rev. Tom Veale, his sister Nancy and husband Dennis Persin, three grandchildren, Jennifer Weaver, Angela Weaver, Paulette Harris and husband Clem, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home in Duncanville, TX. from 5 to 8 pm, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. A Memorial Service is planned for a later date followed by his interment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
