The Lady Irene Therese de Haas-Hyde
(nee Jakubowski) born in Grayson, Saskatchewan at home March 27, 1940 in the Year of the Dragon and deceased April 23, 2024 in the Year of the Dragon. Irene is predeceased by her parents Anton (Tony) Jakubowski and Lillian (Ravine) Jakubowski, baby brother John, baby sisters Evelyn and Rose, brothers Arthur, Edward, Larry and David. Her son, Richard (Ricky) Clayton 1996, grandson George Whitlock, her godson and nephew Dallas and her beloved husband Henry de Haas 1996. Survived by and left to mourn are her older sister Hilda, younger brothers Philip, Richard and James. Her three daughters, Sheila (Bob) Whitlock, Norma Jean Clayton, Renee Clayton (Rhett Melnyk), three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, her best friend and father to her children, Clark Clayton, her beloved niece Destiny, and the so many other nieces and nephews she has shared fond memories with.
Always one to want to learn more, Irene took up many hobbies over the years, becoming the “Queen Bee” of everything. Able to sew beautiful clothes and dresses, knitting her famous slippers, re-upholstering various pieces of furniture, her passion for her well known beautiful gardens, cooking large meals for friends and family to gather over the years. One of her fondest memories was the time with her late husband Henry when they travelled over to Holland to meet Henry’s home country, enjoying the beauty of Holland and warmth of his family and friends.
Irene, always the one for color, over the years repainted homes inside and out with tasteful color choices, making every home, whether small or large, inviting for all to come into. So much of Irene’s life has been shared with so many, that a book could be made. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the opportunity to know and love her.
Celebration of Life will be Held on Thursday April 25, 2024 @ 1:00pm.
