Mary was born in Duluth on November 29, 1925 to John and Mary Marshalek. She attended Stowe Elementary and Junior High and graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1943.
Mary went to work for Northwestern Bell Phone Company in 1943 and later worked as a Switchboard Operator at Miller Dwan from 1971 until 1988. She continued to volunteer at Miller Dwan after her retirement.
Mary was united in marriage to Edward Jacob Mrak on July 23, 1949. She loved gardening, traveling, and spending time at the family cabin, but especially she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; grandson, Edward John Mrak; brother, James Marshalek; and significant other, David McLeod.
Mary is survived by her son, Thomas (Wendy) Mrak; and grandchildren, Thomas Jr. of Proctor and Nicholas (Chandra) of Duluth.
The family would like to thank the staff and management at Spirit Valley Assisted Living, St. Eligius Health Center, Dr. Daniel Robinson, St. Luke’s Hospice and the St. Luke’s Oncology Department for the wonderful care given to Mary.
