Janet was born January 14, 1935 to Howard & Elsie (Roses) Kennedy in Cloquet, MN.
Janet married Nick Mega January 9, 1953. They were married 43 years before his passing in 1996.
Janet graduated from Morgan Park High School and worked many different jobs over the years retiring from Aquilla Knitting Mills. She was an Avon Lady for many years and devoted many hours doing volunteer work as a Girl Scout Leader and in the schools.
Janet had an incredible green thumb which showed in her yard and her home. She was an amazing cook who was happiest when she was cooking for her family. She made many wedding cakes for family & friends over the years. Janet loved Elvis Presley & the Minnesota Twins and collected memorabilia from both, as well as attending many concerts/games. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, compassion, generosity & devotion to her family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father; Gerard Bergman; husband, Nick Mega; son, Thomas Mega; in-laws, Metro & Anna Mega and many loved family & friends.
Janet is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Faye (Jeffrey) Mickelson; sisters, Faye Ellena of Andover, MN & Sharon (Tom) Johnson of Coon Rapids, MN; daughter-in-law, Rose Mega; grandchildren, Melissa (Chris Keup) Mega, Jeffrey (Jenna) Mickelson, Casey (Nikole) Mickelson, and Heidi (Lonnie) Gilbert and 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Beau, Lennox, Kolbie, Layton, Norah & Lovey along with many loved family & friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Superior Rehabilitation Center who lovingly cared for Janet for the past 4 years and the Hospice team from Essentia Health.
