Elizabeth “Betty” Michon-Clancey, 90, Duluth, passed away Thursday Jan. 31, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born November 10, 1928 in Duluth to Isaac and Lulu (McGarrity) Verville and was a Duluth Cathedral High School graduate, class of 1946.
Betty and her first husband Ernest A. Michon, Jr. resided and raised their family in Morgan Park. Betty worked many years for NW Bell as a long distance operator. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and in later years volunteered and served school lunches for the students of St. James. Betty was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, collector of lighthouses and MN Viking fan. Her eyes would light up when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit.
Betty is preceded in death by husbands Ernest A. Michon Jr. & Ronald Clancey; brother, Russell Verville; sister, Eleanor Rogers; son-in-law, Jeff Jensen.
She is survived by daughter, Paula Jensen; sons, Mark (Judy) Michon, Bruce (Kathy) Michon, Tim (Cheryl) Michon, Tom (Renee) Michon, Terry (Kris) Michon; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
The family appreciates the loving care provided by Essentia Hospice and Solvay Hospice House and a special thank you to “Nicole”.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 in St. James Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Duluth.
