Audrey Mae Elnes

She was raised in Piedmont Heights and was a graduate of Denfield High School in 1954. After graduation, while enjoying time roller skating, she met Ronald Elnes, the love of her life. They were married at Bethany Lutheran Church in 1957.Most of her life, Audrey was a loving wife and devoted stay at home mom. As she had time, she worked as a secretary for Grusendorf’s Insurance Agency and Northwestern Life Insurance Agency. She was a Mary-Kay Consultant for many years. She was active mother and enjoyed attending school and church activities. She also volunteered as a den mother for Boy Scouts she was a Girl Scout leader and volunteered for many years at Glensheen Mansion.

Audrey loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, mostly tending to her roses. Audrey also liked to knit and read. She was very active in her church circle at Holy Cross and was a member to Hope Lutheran and Bethany Lutheran earlier in life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents, Adolph and Ellen; granddaughter, Julie Mae Wright-Allen; and cousin, Bob “Herman” Matteson.

Audrey will be greatly missed by her son, Ken of Prior Lake; three daughters, Renee (Bill) Wright of Hudsonville, MI, Barb (Scott) Hackney of Traverse City, MI , and Ronda (Rob) Elnes-Schepper of Princeton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Nancy (Robert) Salmela , Ruby (the late Bernie)Peterson both of Duluth, and Doris (Don) Bergersen of Nisswa.

Visitation: 10 until the 11:00 am. Funeral Service Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home, 925 East 4th Street. Interment will be held in Bethany Cemetery, Hermantown. Please leave a memory of Audrey or words of support for the family at www.bellbrothersjarvidowd.com .
