Dale was born and raised in Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1956. Dale married the love of his life, Jean Sundholm, in 1971. Dale worked for the City of Duluth Parks Department.
In his youth, Dale spent a lot of time fishing, snowshoeing, and exploring the woods. Dale also earned his pilot’s license and he and Jean flew many places together, once flying to Oregon and back to visit Dale’s sister, Marj.
Dale loved to make things in his wood shop and metal shop. Many friends and relatives would call Dale the “inventor” because he was so good at building and fixing things for everyone. Dale also loved traveling with his family; driving to Alaska, every part of Canada, and many states. Dale especially liked spending the winters with Jean in Tucson, Arizona.
Dale also enjoyed working at the gun club, traveling to shooting matches, and making many friends. He was a very active bicyclist and loved biking long distances especially with his daughter. When Dale wasn’t busy fixing things or helping others, he spent time reading and listening to Johnny Cash music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret; nephew, Jimmy Jeppesen; and brother-in-law, Jim Jeppesen.
Dale will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Jean of Hermantown; daughter, Christine (Scott) Ostern of Saginaw; sister, Marj (Chuck Dame) Jeppesen; and niece, Lori (Lyle) Wilcox.
