Suzanne Evelyn Smith

Suzanne Evelyn (Farno) Smith, 89, surrounded by family, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2024, after five years of Dementia. She was living in the Dublin Retirement Village, previously in Friendship Village of Dublin, both in Dublin, Ohio.

She was preceded by her parents Frank and Evelyn Farno and her brother Glenn Farno. She is survived by her loving husband Dick and her three wonderful children David, Debbie Johnson (husband Ted), and Jennifer Barta (husband Brad). She leaves five wonderful and delightful Barta grandchildren, Ryan Barta (Madi), Brittany Armstrong (Logan), Tyler Barta (Kaylee), Kyle Barta and Bryce Barta. And she leaves her sweet great-grandchildren Elliana and Dawson Armstrong and Edith and Greyson Barta.

Sue was a graduate of The College of William and Mary, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a member of the national sorority, Delta Delta Delta. Suzanne taught second and third grades at the Ramsey, NJ School System for 15 years. She and Dick were married on July 7, 1956, for 67 loving years. They renewed their wedding vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2006 on a family trip to the Turks & Caicos Islands in the Bahamas. On their 60th wedding anniversary, they took a Caribbean Cruise with their family over New Year’s Eve from December 2016 to January 2017.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Schoedinger Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio. A visitation will take place directly after the service until 3:30pm.
