We celebrate the life and memory of Shirley Taylor, who left us on May 25, 2024, at the age of 87. Shirley was raised in New Carlisle, Ohio. She attended Wittenberg University, then moved to Columbus. She was married to Dick Taylor (deceased 2015) in 1955. Dick and Shirley lived in Upper Arlington for a few years and then made Dublin their permanent home.
Shirley loved art, theater, and traveling. Her homes were full of vibrant and colorful collectibles from her trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Manhattan, and Europe. She ensured her children and grandchildren were exposed to art and theater at an early age, through various programs at the Columbus Junior Theater and the Columbus Museum of Art.
She worked for many years in retail clothing boutiques LeFlair and Bib&Tucker in Dublin. She also volunteered at Beaux Art Columbus in support of local arts.
Shirley was preceded in death by Dick Taylor (husband), Warren Sutton (father), Elizabeth Sutton (mother), and Steve Sutton (brother). She is succeeded by her sons, Scott (and wife Michelle), and Mike (and wife Carrie); her grandsons Sam, Josh and Dominic; her step-grandsons, Sam and Trey.
While our hearts are heavy with her passing, we will remember her with love, especially whenever we hear songs from Les Miserables, or New York, New York.
A brief memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday June 30, 2024, followed by a visitation with the family until 5pm at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Columbus Childrens Theater, or a charity of your choice.
