Jeff was born May 13, 1956, to Joseph Shepherd and Norma (Butch) in Michigan City, Indiana. He grew up in New Haven, Indiana with his parents and older brother Scott Shepherd. He married his best friend Kim Shepherd, and the two celebrated 26 years together on September 26th. His greatest joy was his family, including his two kids, Zach and Audrey Shepherd, and their dog, Cricket.
Jeff devoted his life to playing music. In his youth, he began playing cello and soon discovered guitar. He continued playing guitar throughout his entire life, belonging to Snapshot in the 80s and the Eddie Pollina Band from the 90s through 2021. With the Eddie Pollina band, Jeff would get the opportunity to play with his best friend and brother Scott. Jeff also made a living as a painter, working for Stouters Construction, run by lifelong friend and bandmate Anthony Pollina. Through Jeff’s love for music and incredible work ethic, he fostered many friendships and helped create a legacy that will be remembered by many.
Jeff was also devoted to his family. In 1995 he met Kim, having been introduced to her by his brother's then girlfriend, Jana. The two would begin talking during a car ride after one of his gigs, sparking a love that would result in a wedding of their own. From then on the two would share countless laughs, many taking place on one of their countless trips around the world.
Jeff was strong-willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and a bursting sense of humor. He was full of stories and wisdom from his life on the road as a musician and was humble and compassionate towards everyone he met; his empathy was commendable.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother and father, Butch and Joseph Shepherd. He is survived by his wife, Kim Shepherd; children Zach (Hallie Saylor) and Audrey Shepherd of Powell, OH; brother Scott Shepherd (Jana Shepherd) of Delaware, OH; along with his brother-in-law Charles (Bub) Tackett, niece and nephew Kacie and Colin Tackett of Troy, OH, and mother-in-law Sharon Tackett of Delaware, OH.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017.
