Mr. James Clayton Lord

Services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Grady Mimbs and Reverend Dickie Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Sunday Evening from 6-8 P.M.

James was the son of the late Clayton and Viola Cauthen Lord. He and his loving and devoted wife Marcia Ireland Lord, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 23, 2011. They have 2 children, Sandy Lee (Vernon) Garrett, and James Jeffery (Kris) Lord, who currently reside in the Atlanta area.

James was preceded in death by brothers Billy and Gary Lord.

Raised on a farm, James never lost his love for the outdoors and farming in particular. In the late 1990’s he was recognized in the local paper for his exceptional yield of cotton. He also worked with Johnson Backhoe for many years. After retirement, he served local auto dealerships as a porter, moving cars from one location to another. He also served as attendant at a county recycling center.

James is also survived by an older sister, Ann (Fred) Taylor, two younger sisters, Dorothy (Bobby) Branch, and Cathy (David) Dean, as well as two younger brothers, Wendell (Kathy) Lord, and Earl, called Bubby (Katrina) Lord, Grandchildren include Logan and Nolan Garrett, Danielle and Paige Lord, and one Great-Grandson, Dawson.

Pallbearers will be selected from his many nephews, great nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family request that you please donate Gideon Bibles or a memorial donation to New Bethel Baptist Church in his honor.
