Donald C. Sladek, 85, Downers Grove. Survived by wife of 48 years, Marti Sladek, son Tony Sladek (Rhonda), cousins Stephen Granzyk (Marilyn) and Sylvia Rosse (Doug) and their families. Preceded in death by his mother Marge Sladek and brothers John 'Jack' Sladek (Linda) and David Sladek. Don had been a salesman and a ballroom teacher before becoming a chiropractic physician at mid-life because of his interests in nutrition, fitness, martial arts and alternative healing. He and Marti traveled widely, and he loved playing cards, singing, trying different cuisines, walks in the Forest Preserves, and dancing tango. He was a 'dog person', passionate about animal welfare; the family requests that anyone wishing to do so contribute to their favorite pet shelter or rescue organization in his name. Don, a disabled US Army veteran, will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Veteran's Cemetery near Joliet, on Monday, May 29, at 2pm.
