Thomas Lenore Nicholson

Mr. Thomas Lenore Nicholson, Sr., age 81, of Decatur, GA passed away May 21, 2019. He was born July 14, 1937 in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Nicholson proudly served and retired from the United States Army. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Tom enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and hunting. He was very talented musically, being able to play many instruments and sang in the church quartet. He was strong in his faith and was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Tom was also able to bake very well having won many awards for his cobbler, pecan pie and Italian cream cake. Tom enjoyed playing cards with his friends, working on crossword puzzles and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Nicholson; parents, William and Gusta Nicholson; brothers, Dewey Nicholson, Wallace Nicholson, Kenneth Nicholson and Herdis Nicholson, sisters, Stella Nicholson and Willa Boe.

He is survived by his son, Thomas “Tom” Nicholson, Jr., daughter, Janice (Mike) Gibson; three grandchildren, Kristen Rast, Kyle Rast, Eileen Harvey; two great-grandchildren; nephew and niece, Gary and Towana Brown; as well as a number of other family members and friends.

The family will have a memorial service at Bridgepoint Church at Toco Hills, 1995 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033 on Saturday, June 22, .2019 at 11 o’clock am.
