Mr. Terry Lemuel Carrigan, age 76, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019. He was born on August 10, 1942 in Concord, AL. Terry loved his family, but he especially loved his wife and grandchildren. He joined the United States Air Force on August 3, 1962. He served as an Airmen First Class Fire Control Specialist during the Vietnam conflict in Okinawa, Japan. He also worked on radar guidance systems on the F104 Thunderchief Jets. He spent most of his time in the garden or tinkering with things. He was a hard worker and found it hard to sit still; he retired from University of Alabama Birmingham after 30 years of service as Manager of the Office Machine Repair department. Terry also loved to fish and liked to watch TV in his down time. He mostly watched science related shows and WWII documentaries. He was a gold prospector with the Gold Mine Club, where he and other members panned for gold.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Willy and Florice Carrigan; his father and mother-in-law, Harry and Esther Barnett; and his grandmother, Dora Hardy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Betty Carrigan; his children, Michael (Julaina) Carrigan and Stacey (Terry) Slay; his brother, Tim Carrigan; and his grandchildren, Garrison Carrigan, Josh Slay, and Zach Slay.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Terry’s memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel with Sam Braswell Officiating.
