Mrs. Sara Chapman Jones, age 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. A native of Douglas County, Mrs. Jones was born July 26, 1930 in Fairplay. She retired from Atlanta Gas Light, where she worked as a Customer Service Representative. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening. She was a member of Praise Tabernacle Congregational Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Jones, Jr.; her parents, Lawrence and Nellie Chapman; and step-brothers, Mack Chapman and Lawrence Chapman.
She is survived by sons, Dennis (Sherry) Jones and Randy (Vickie) Jones; step-brother, Gene Chapman of Raleigh, North Carolina, and her beloved canine companion, Krissie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor Tommy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
