Ronald Glenn Cato

Mr. Ronald G. Cato of Temple, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the age of 74. He was born on February 26, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia. Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 23 and served his country for 2 years. For the remarkable heroism he displayed in Vietnam, Ronald was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. One of his most notable contributions as a machine gunner took place when he dauntlessly advanced to provide cover for his unit. They were able to evacuate friendly casualties and ultimately aided his unit in the successful completion of their mission.

In addition to being a steady and accurate gunner in the U.S. Army, Ronald was a painter and a loving family man. After marrying the love of his life, Nancy Loggins, on October 2, 1969 in Red Oak, Georgia, Ronald spent the rest of his days living and loving life to the fullest. He found joy in life's simple pleasures like spending time with his family, spoiling his small terrier (and baby), Princess, and watching horror films. He and his wife, Nancy, were notorious for their free spirits, which often carried them to Florida on the smallest of whims. Each time they took to the road, Ronald insisted on blasting Elvis with the windows down the entire way there no matter where they were going. In keeping with their free-spirited natures, Ronald and Nancy always kept their bags packed, knowing they weren't prone to staying in one place for long. Anytime the road called them to their next adventure, they were ready to answer.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Farris and Martha Cato; his sister, Delia Gibson and his brother, Sonny Cato.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Frances; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Keith; three grandchildren, Tony (and his wife, Courtney), Jesse (and his wife, Hannah), and Makaelee; one great-grandchild, Jayla. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Ronald was cremated, and the family will receive friends at their home for a memorial service on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at noon.
