Captain Ronald “Ron” J. Cain, age 83, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020. He was born November 5, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of the late Joel DeWitt and Helen (Powers) Cain. He was a 1954 graduate of Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Georgia. He joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from high school where he became a loadmaster and was deployed to Japan, Korea and Okinawa. He served with the Atlanta Police Department Traffic and Motors Division from 1964-1967. In 1973, he joined the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department starting in the Patrol Division. Captain Cain oversaw the first DUI Task Force, was promoted to Commander of the Patrol Division, and served as Chief of the Courthouse Detachment. He retired in 2010 as Captain. Captain Cain was wounded in the line of duty with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Atlanta Police Department.
He was married to Pamela Munro, also with the Atlanta Police Department, who passed away in 1989.
Captain Cain is survived by a son, Kenneth Cain; a daughter, Jennifer McKenna; brother, Gene Cain; a sister-in-law, Christine Cain; a half-sister, Libby Smith; and his beloved cat, Mr. Pie.
