Mr. Robert Lake Patterson, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019. He was born in Jasper Georgia on November 23, 1936, but grew up in Maryville, Tennessee, one of four boys. He received a private pilot’s license while still in high school. Mr. Patterson was a Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. After graduation from Everett High School, he worked at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Hapeville, Georgia for over 30 years. He attended Georgia State and received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Mr. Patterson enjoyed flying small planes, as well as playing golf, working in the yard, traveling out West, camping, attending baseball and football games, and going to the gym. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports on TV. He has been a member of First United Methodist Church for over 45 years, where he served on various committees at church, and was a member of the New Horizons Sunday School Class. He was devoted to his family and dearly loved spending time with his two grandsons, Braden and Evan Warren.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, Lake and Veone Patterson; brothers, John and George.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Patterson; daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Warren; grandsons, Braden Warren and Evan Warren; brother, Nathan (Carol) Patterson; sisters-in-law, Shirley Patterson, Debbie Patterson, and Greta Lee.
The family will receive friends at the Douglasville First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Reverend Brett DeHart officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:30 PM at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta, GA 30064
