Mary Evelyn Murphy

Mary Evelyn Murphy, age 92, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was born 5/16/1931 in Buchanan, Georgia. A devoted military wife, Evelyn and her family lived abroad during her husband’s deployments and assignments during his tenure with the Air Force. After returning to the states, she worked with Sears Roebuck, having retired as a Clerk and a Branch Manager. After retirement, she and her husband were actively involved in the Douglas County Senior Citizen Club, among other social organizations in Douglasville. Evelyn enjoyed helping deliver meals to housebound people for the Douglas County Senior Services. She found great joy in spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 73 years, Roslyn Warren “Pete” Murphy; and her parents, Pierce and Irene (Henson) Parrott.

Those left to cherish her memory are son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Karen Murphy, of Broomfield, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Steve Phillips of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Kate Jesson (Chris), Dana Lapostol (Cisco), Jordan Murphy, Tyler Murphy (Rachel), Sean Phillips (Anna), Paul Phillips (Jenn) and Dylan Phillips (Josephine); as well as her great-grandchildren, Nathan Phillips, Sam Phillips, Madilyn Phillips, Conner Jesson, Molly Jesson, Oliver Lapostol, William Murphy Muradian and Theodore Murphy Muradian.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Following the service, Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rosehaven Memorial Park.
