Jeannie Kate Latham Malcolm, age 86, of Wedowee, Alabama passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023. A native of Douglas County, Jeannie was born September 10, 1936 in Douglasville. Jeannie was a pastor’s wife serving in many churches in Georgia and Alabama. She also served as pianist for many years in different churches. Jeannie was a member of Union Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama, where she also served as pianist for many years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reverend Dallas Latham; husband, James “Jim” Malcolm; parents, Lee and Ethel (Taylor) Wallace; granddaughter, Heather Fountain; and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are children, Rachael Latham, Lloyd Latham (Wanda), Greg Latham (John), and Darlene Morris (Chet); daughter-in-law, Shelley Latham; grandchildren, Jordan Kilian, Haidley Fountain, Jennifer Smallwood (Rodney), Stephanie Kelley (Wendell), Geoffrey Latham (Duane), Rebecca Lucas (Bruce), and Chris Giddens (Jacqueline); eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elaine Jackson (Charles); brother, Richard Wallace (Anita); sisters-in-law, Bonnie Wallace, Carol Wallace, Jan Wallace and Faye Latham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Monday, February 13, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Ed Halsey officiating. Following the service, Jeannie will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.
