Mac was born in Douglasville, Georgia on March 11, 1939 the son of the late Frank James and the late Eunice Scroggins James. The one thing in life that made him the happiest was taking great care of his family and making sure everyone was okay. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in working on airplanes and working in his yard. Mac was Baptist by faith and a dedicated, loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville and Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia. He drove the church bus for many years and he enjoyed working with the R.A.’s when he was younger.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne McCrackin James, sons and daughter–in-law, Marshall James, Mike James (Glenna); daughters, Lynn James, Mary James Dortch; grandchildren, Delaney Jackson (Cody), James-Ross Dortch, and Calvin James; great grandson, Beau Jackson; nephews, Dan James, Matt James, Eddie Chatham, niece, Terri Schival and their families; sister-in-law, Patsy James and his very best friend, Harry Ivey.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Dukes and brother, Malcolm James.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Blair officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Douglasville, Georgia.
