Douglas “Doug” Wayne Henry, age 37, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021. A native of Douglas County, Doug was born September 29, 1983 in Lithia Springs, Georgia. He was an amazing husband, who loved his wife, Maria, with his whole heart. Doug was proud to be a father, fiercely loving his sons, striving to be the greatest father he could and was involved with his sons in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hiking and outdoorsy adventures. Doug had a huge personality and was bigger than life – he was someone you could not forget. Often referred to as “Wild Man”, Doug was free spirited, spontaneous and hilarious with many stories that would guarantee a good laugh. Just as he was that free spirit, he was also loving, caring and always there for people. He made friends easily and was a “brother” to many, especially to the friends he had over the years. He was a loyal, fearless, brave, strong creature, who was protective of those he loved. He never judged anyone and accepted you the way you were. He was a Christian and was saved at Central Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of nine years (they had been together for 11 years), Maria (Samson) Henry; his mother, Vale Henry; his father, Jerry D. Henry; two sons, Luke Henry and Liam Henry; mother-in-law, Sherri Samson; father-in-law, James Samson; sister-in-law, Ciara Samson; as well as numerous other loved ones, family and friends. He was a brother to many.
