Mr. Billy Marion Jackson, age 81, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, January 26, 2015. He was born May 11, 1933 in Marion, GA and raised in Douglasville, GA. He served as a deputy sheriff for one year and worked with his family-owned Hometown Motors. He owned his own body shop in Douglas County and worked on many, many cars including the sheriff’s car. He raced cars at the Peachtree Bowl. Mr. Jackson loved horses and he ate daily at the Bankhead Diner.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Adams Jackson; his parents, Carl and Nellie Brown Jackson; brothers, Herman Jackson and Bobby Jackson.
He is survived by daughter and primary caregiver, Cheryl Gipson; daughter, Pamela McGill; grandchildren, Tracy Southerland, Jamey McGill, Eric Southerland, Shawn McGill; great-grandchildren, Brandon Southerland, Macy Southerland, Ashton Southerland, Eli Southerland, Paisley Southerland, Bailey McGill, Allyssa McGill and Jaden McGill.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. Interment will follow at Douglasville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help offset expenses.
