Axel Peter “Pete” Damerow, age 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was born July 9, 1953 in Tübingen, Germany. He immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1955. He graduated from Shamrock High School in Dekalb County in 1972. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from West Georgia College in 1977, which is where he met his wife, Brenda. Pete was a loving husband, devoted son, father and grandfather. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them—especially his grandchildren. Pete had a long career with Delta Airlines. He was a talented artisan in woodworking. In his spare time, Pete loved being outside and would be found working in his yard, hiking, or hunting. He loved traveling–family vacations, trips with friends, and adventures with his brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 43 years, Brenda Quigley Damerow; his mother Margarete (Strubl) Damerow; daughters, Alison Damerow Fuqua (Ben) and Samantha Damerow Shipp (Bo); brother, Steve Damerow (Robin Wrinn); two grandchildren, Danielle Fuqua and Aaron Fuqua; nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family and many friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, Hans G. Damerow.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. James Harper officiating.
