Benjamin “Ben” Karasiewicz, affectionately known as “Dover,” of Hudsonville, MI, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday morning, October 22, 2024 in the arms of his loving wife “Hide.” He was born January 4, 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ben was 47 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Debra Kolenda and Michael Karasiewicz.
When Ben was first diagnosed with cancer, the doctors gave us just six months. But Ben, being the fighter he was, turned that six months into two of living fully. During a time when many might lose hope, Ben showed incredible strength and resilience. He refused to let go, choosing to fight with everything he had because he wasn’t ready to leave his family and friends behind. He showed us all what it truly means to persevere, to hold on to life, and to never give up, no matter the odds. His courage reminds us that even in the darkest moments, there is always something worth fighting for.
Ben was a devoted family man who had a zest for life. He was full of energy and always on the go. His favorite pastime was to drive anything with wheels and a motor. However, he was passionate about riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, Jeeping and driving semi-trucks. He lived life to the fullest, always surrounded by an abundance of family and friends. In 2004, Ben met the love of his life, Heidi, at a local biker event called Blues on the Mall. Their connection was immediate, and within a year, they were married in 2006. Together, they shared eighteen wonderful years of marriage. They had a bond built on love, devotion, and unwavering dedication that will live on in the hearts of their children.
Ben is survived by his beloved wife, Heidi Karasiewicz, and their two children Milo and Jocilyn. He is also survived by his brother, Chris; stepfather, Tom Kolenda; and a host of nieces and nephews: Meghan, Gracelynn, Morgan, Nicky, Bailey, Nicky Joe Jr., Delanie, Dakota, Austin, Kelcie, Kai, Nova, Joshua, and Aisley.
Ben’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory and the joy he brought to others will endure forever. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
