Harry Pierre Theriot passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the age of 88, after having lived with Alzheimer's for more than 11 years. He was a native of Paincourtville, La., and resident of Donaldsonville, La.
Harry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved visiting with friends and relatives down the bayou and in his kitchen, sipping coffee in his rocking chair. He was known for his delicious fried fish and hunters' suppers hosted in the "camp." He loved to fish, hunt, ride his bike, take walks on the levee, and swing on his cypress swing in his backyard.
Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, drafted during the Korean War. He was stationed in Schwabisch Hall, Germany. He retired from Dow Chemical in Plaquemine, La., in 1994.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three children, Diane Theriot Hebert (Aaron), Konrad Theriot (Patrice), and Marybeth Pinsonneault (Shawn); three grandchildren, Greg Theriot, Ashley Savoie (Danny), and Adam Hebert (Michaela); one step-grandchild, Danielle Mann (Michael); one great grandson, Hudson Savoie; two step great grandchildren, Christopher and Amelia Mann, one sister, Carrie Denoux, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Rome Theriot and parents, Leo and Anna Simoneaux Theriot.
Pallbearers will be: Greg Theriot, Adam Hebert, Shawn Pinsonneault, Aaron Hebert, Brett Landry, and Danny Savoie. Honorary pallbearers will be: Morris Simoneaux and Chase Landry.
The family would like to thank Harry's long-time caregivers Yvette Harris and Courtney Harris, as well as the staff of Old Jefferson Community Care Center and Clarity Hospice, for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Harry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 10:15 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at Ascension Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. Interment to follow in the church mausoleum.
