A soldier of the greatest generation has been called home to his eternal reward by our faithful and loyal Father. A son, brother and loving uncle, Alvin “Al” Joseph Dufresne, age 95, passed away on March 23, 2016 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 11:00 am with Fr. Chris Decker officiating. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 9:00 am and continuing until Mass at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at St. Philip Catholic Church Mausoleum. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Mr. Dufresne is survived by his sister, Ruth D. Waguespack and husband Donald; nephew, Charles J. Schexnayder; niece Sandra S. Miller and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Dufresne; mother, Louise LeBeouf Dufresne; brothers, Percy Dufresne, Russel Dufresne and sisters, Bessie D. Schexnayder, Mabel D. Melancon and Joyce Dufresne. In death there is certainly a very real pain and sorrow of physical separation. But it is equally true that our loved ones remain with us. They do not just go off to some dark and distant place. They simply continue into eternal life. We do not see them because we are still in the darkness of this world. But their spiritual eyes, filled with the light of heaven, are always aware of us as they wait for the day when we shall share their perfect joy. We are born for heaven and we end this life of tears to begin our life of endless happiness.
