Digby, Nova Scotia
Dear Dad died peacefully with loved ones by his side. He was the son of late Oscar and Mary Theriault of East Ferry, and brother to Llewellyn, Keith and Myra. He was predeceased by our beloved mom Sylvia, daughter Faye, his brothers, and by sons-in-law Brad Titus and Rodney Greenlaw. Dad is survived by his loving wife Myrtle, sons Cleveland (Sharon) and Jamison, daughters Gail, Rachel (Roger Broderick), and Tam. He leaves devoted grandchildren, Yolanda, Nathan, Jared, Emily, Anique and Noah, and seven great-grandchildren. Dad was blessed to have a second chance at happiness with Myrtle, who brought joy to his life and with that inherited a large extended family. He spent his working years as a fisherman and was known for his kindness and generosity to all. He genuinely enjoyed people and shared his faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour at every opportunity given him. He was known for trying to test men by the strength of their handshake—to him it was a sign of character and he would squeeze as hard as he could with his own very strong hand. That strength never left him.
He loved his life on the sea as a dragger fisherman, gardening, travelling (30 trips to Florida with Mom), camping, walking, being with family and friends, singing, and took great pleasure in just watching the water. He was a man who truly enjoyed the life he was given, and made the most of it. We loved him, are grateful for him and will miss him.
Dad’s service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 26 at the Digby Baptist Church, Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. Burial in East Ferry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VON, who helped Dad during his illness.
“They that go down to the sea in ships, and do business in great waters, they see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.” Psalm 107
