Susan Elizabeth Colon

Sue was born on April 7, 1957 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Robert and Charlotte Jean (Powers) Kemp. She attended Sexton High School. Sue grew up in a home filled with siblings, and it taught her the true value in family.

Sue married her true love, Victor Luis Colon Jr., on August 17, 1996 at Frances Park in Lansing. Victor and Sue had a beautiful love that they cherished every day. Together, they created a home that was forged on love, kindness, and laughter.

To those who knew Sue, they knew of the light that was her. Sue was a living form of warmth and light, and anyone who had the blessing of knowing her, will be forever touched by her. She touched the lives of everyone she came into contact with. During her years spent as a lunch aid at Gier Park in Lansing, she was able to impact so many young children's lives.

Sue had the ability to see beauty in any part of nature. Whether that was the smallest leaf or the largest oak tree. She felt at peace when she was in the outdoors. Sue loved the large waves of the Great Lakes, weekend fishing trips with Victor, or simply sitting on the porch just looking at what a beautiful world surrounded her.

Sue was simple, and she lived a simple life. She did not wish or want for anything extravagant. Sue was her happiest when surrounded by her husband, children, and other family and friends. She was kind, strong, and compassionate. Sue always stood up for the underdog, and she always stood up for what she believed in. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

As Sue wished, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.

Sue is survived by her dear husband of 27 years, Victor Luis Colon Jr.; children, Nicole Susan Kemp, Kyvon Luis Kemp-Colon, and Kaleb Denzel Colon; siblings, Robert (Cindy) Kemp Jr., Randy (Sharol) Kemp, Brenda Leoma (Jorge) Colon, and Ron Francetic; and many other loving family members.

Sue is preceded by her parents, Robert Kemp and Charlotte Jean Kemp; and siblings, Michael, Bonnie, and Cathy.
