Scott Collins Davis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 22, 2024, surrounded by his cherished loved ones. He was born on December 1, 1948, to Bob and Violet Davis in Ionia, Michigan.
Scott leaves behind his devoted wife of 30 years, Janice Davis, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He will be deeply missed by his daughters: Amye Ossman (Mark) and Margo D'Andrea (Patrick), and step-sons Jeremy Premo and Nick Premo. Scott was a loving grandfather to Brady Ossman, Brennan Ossman, August D'Andrea, and Bernadette D'Andrea.
He is survived by his siblings, Susan Stabler (Robert) and Mark Davis (Becci), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Violet Davis, his in-laws, Clarence and Dorothy Grandy, his mother-in-law, June Fritz, and his first wife, Janet Davis.
Scott's passion for Michigan State University sports was unwavering. He held season tickets for football for over 40 years and basketball for over 25 years. He and his family found solace and joy at their family cottage on Houghton Lake. He cherished his travels, especially enjoying cruises and vacations with loved ones. Scott had a special place in his heart for his dogs Cleo, and later Taffy, who brought him immense joy.
Professionally, Scott dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to Consumers Energy, where his hard work and dedication shone through. Scott liked to joke that he “mastered in Euchre” at Lansing Community College. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the Masters every year.
Scott's commitment to his family was unmatched. He coached little league softball for his daughters for many years and was always present at their events, as well as those of his grandchildren. Despite his health issues and limited mobility later in life, he went to as many baseball, basketball and football games as possible for his grandsons. He and Janice volunteered together in various capacities, including with their friend Nancy Hansen’s kindergarten classroom and nursing home visits. Scott was known for his gentle and loving nature, his generosity, support, and sense of humor by everyone who knew him.
A good Christian man, Scott was actively involved in his community, supporting local sporting events and volunteering wherever he could, whether it was working concessions or managing chains at DeWitt High School football games. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A service to celebrate Scott's life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Redeemer Church Food Pantry in Scott's memory would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has supported Scott over the years, especially his caregiver and dear friend Amina “Mindy” Williams.
Scott touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
