What a neat little lady Pat was....her kindness to my daughter and I over the years was greatly appreciated.
My condolences to the family.

I believe I was Pat's first NON-Family caregiver.
I knew Pat for nearly 5 years.

During that time, Pat and I had shared conversations about life, achievements, family and Friends

When I describe Pat to others --- I always reference a strong woman who was proud, independent, trustworthy, loyal, loving and very generous.

She had a warm heart, a quick sense of humor and a beautiful smile that occasionally gave way to a devilish grin.
She was spunky, smart and always cared to ask you about things or people in your life.
When you were accepted into Pat's inner circle  she took care of you.

When I first met Pat with Sonia at her Grandmother's home on Sheridan Road I remember that she looked at me very displeasing and was not too keen on having someone be her babysitter.  I explained that she definetly didn't need a babysitter.and I was just coming in to help and spend time with her. Some weeks later,  I then met her daughter Sandy and was completely taken off guard when  she told me Mom really likes you.  I was surprised because Pat could give some very specific looks at you.

Eventually, Pat moved back to Douglas St. and I was spending more and more time with her.

I will always cherish the memories of our time together --- especially in the mornings when I would arrive to her home.  She always greeted me with a smile, kind words and a hug.
Many times before we started our morning routine; we would sit on the side of her bed, hold hands and share our thoughts.

Pat loved to be in charge (and she was good at it).  Whether it was to tell me to get the mail, let her dog back in, or calling the list of Postal employees for the upcoming monthly breakfast (even if it may be a week or two in advance.)
When I was fortunate enough to take her to the breakfasts.I loved seeing how excited she was to get to the designated restaurant.  I would make sure that she had her sign in sheet and TWO pens (because one was never enough).  I enjoyed seeing her fellow work associates interact with her and occasionally they would share an insight of Pat in her younger years.
She always looked forward to seeing her Post Office friends and spoke fondly of her employment there.

Many times she would ask me if I had found her a boyfriend yet.  My regular response was : Pat how can I find you a boyfriendwhen I can't even find my own.    
Many times I told Pat I wished I knew her even ten years earlier.she could be so much fun.

This week when I informed some of my close friends and family of Pat's passing. One of them reminded me of this saying : .

Grief is the LAST act of Love that we have to give.
Where there is deep griefthere was a great love.

I want to thank her daughters.Sandy, Sonia and Sally for continuing to include me in Pat's life even after I was not a regularly scheduled caregiver.

I truly feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to get to know Pat, Love her, and call her my friend.
I WILL MISS HER TREMENDOUSLY.

Pat and I met at the PO. In the early eighties , the YWCA offered a class on belly dancing. Pat and I took the class  and even performed at the open house. That's the kind of fun person she was. I'll miss her at breakfasts. R .I. H. P a t.

To the entire family,  I met Pat through Sonia many years ago and she was an amazing vivacious woman.  You have my heartfelt condolences and many prayers as you spend this time remembering the woman that she was.

Sonia, so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother.  Mothers can leave a real void.  Take care and know that others are thinking of you.
