Marvin Neil Foster, age 78, of Laingsburg, Michigan, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on December 23, 1945, to Marvin and Adella Foster, Marvin's life was marked by love, service, and a deep connection to family.
Marvin graduated from Bath Community Schools and went on to serve as a Sergeant in the Army for nearly two years, displaying dedication and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Marvin worked as a Press Operator at General Motors for an impressive 30 years.
A man of faith, Marvin was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of St. Johns. His hobbies included a love for tractors and model railroading, showcasing his diverse interests and passions.
Marvin will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His nieces and nephews fondly recall him as a gentle giant who was adored by all.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty of Laingsburg; children, Fred (Jackie) Foster of Lansing, MI, Scott (Rebecca) Foster of Smyrna, TN, and Peggy (Jason) Woodrow of East Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Chris Foster, Jenna Foster, Mike Foster, Logan Foster, Bethany Woodrow, and Jacob Woodrow; siblings, Louetta Sherman of Lansing, MI, Wanda Fernandez of Granite Falls, NC, and Kathleen (William) Barrett of Lansing, MI; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Adella Foster and siblings, Marvel (Charles) Paddock and Gary Foster.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E Washington St., DeWitt, MI 48820. Following the service, Marvin will be laid to rest at Reed Cemetery, 6770 Alward Rd., Laingsburg, MI 48848.
