Marty was born on September 17, 1942 in Lansing, the son of Martin Kelsey and Ada Sprauge. Although he was born in Lansing, he found a home in Dewitt and built a life and family there. Marty was a jack-of-all trades when it came to his professions. He worked at animal control, then worked as a machinist for Morbark, but he found a place at General Motors where he was an assembly line worker. Marty worked for General Motors until he retired in 2002. He was able to enjoy retirement for 21 years. During this time, he traveled with his loving wife, Judy, to warm states to escape the Michigan winter, and he was able to spend all his time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marty loved working with his hands. He loved woodworking and restoring tractors. He loved to give back to others. Marty adored serving and maintaining the church properties. Marty was known for his faith. For his belief in the Lord. He loved to share the teachings of Jesus with anyone and everyone. Marty always passed out "Jesus loves you" cards to everyone. He was very thankful for everything he had in life. He was never jealous or envious of what others had. He cherished every little and large thing that he had in his life. Marty loved his homestead. He loved farming and hunting. Marty was a provider to his family, and he was a very hardworking man.. He wanted his family to always be taken care of. He always put his family first and above himself. Marty was a big practical joker.
